Attorneys can expect a variety of assistance with their casework. Legal Nurse Consultants are registered nurses with specialized education and clinical expertise as it relates to litigation and the law. Legal Nurse Consultants provide a different level and type of service then paralegals and legal assistants due to their specialized education and experience. Nurses by definition are trained to ‘recognize, interpret and analyze’ medical (and health related) information; as Legal Nurse Consultants that information is further evaluated as it relates to legal issues.

Provide research and supportive literature as it relates to injuries and damages.
Educate attorneys about injuries, medical facts and circumstances which relate to a case or a claim.
Analyze and interpret with supportive graphic and research evidence the facts contained in the medical records as they relate to allegations and injuries.
Identify the standards of care and determine whether they have been breached based on the medical records reviewed.
Assess damages and whether there is evidence of causation.
Review allegations and analyze relevance of same as they compare to the claimants records.
Assess whether the healthcare facility or practitioner breached his duty to the claimant.
Prepare trial notebooks and exhibits as requested for trial; as well as support to litigators at trial.
Collaboration of theories and strategies to utilize at trial.
Assistance and support during discovery, EBTs, and other proceedings.
Identify and retain expert witnesses.
Identify and assist in obtaining missing medical records.
Organize medical records and other relevant material.
Prepare chronologies, with both correlation to allegations and identification of aberrant information as it relates to facts and expert assessments.
